Kona: 2020 Remote 160 eMTB

Description

Kona’s top end eMTB takes the core attributes of the already outstanding Process, adding the Shimano E8000 system to create a whole new beast of a bike. This is the Kona eMTB which so many of us have been waiting for in the digital space. Time to play!

At the heart of the Remote 160 is a stunning downhill frame capable of hammering through every challenge you can throw at it, whilst remaining both composed and true to your lines. The formula is tough enough to float over the most brutal terrain in all conditions, whilst offering just enough flex where you need it to ride harder and faster than you may otherwise expect to.

The RockShox Lyrik Select Charger RC DebonAir forks and a RockShox Super Deluxe Select rear shock stick a tidy 160mm of travel at both ends. SRAM Code R calipers match SRAM Centreline 200m rotors for both front and rear, whilst SRAM’s NX Single Click Shifters keep you tuning your 1×12 output as you ride. The Trans-X Dropper Post enables rapid set-up changes on the fly, whilst Shimano’s 504Wh internal battery pushes you to swallow up the terrain.

Handy, playful and safe on the downhill…Stable, easy and very efficient uphill…In the field, it’s difficult to find any fault in this Kona Remote 160. I liked this bike a lot and for a first try in the EMTB enduro segment, we can say that the Canadians have managed a complete masterstroke. France

Quite frankly, I am a little concerned I may have been ruined by this e-MTB experience. Not because I now have to go back to my analog bike and slog up the climbs; I am sadist, I like that sort of thing. I say it because I feel I might have come across what is a very well thought through and very well designed e-MTB.

The Remote 160 is one of the funnest EMTBs I’ve ridden!
