Grin: Digital Regen Brake Cable (Magnetic/HiGo 4 Pin)
Description
Proportional regen braking is supported by the combination of Phaserunner/Baserunner motor controllers and Superharness, which adapt to both your speed and bike weight on the fly, so a gentle pull on the brake lever feels a lot like conventional engine braking, rather than when a brake pad makes contact with the disk.
The advantages include recharging your battery by turning your hub motor into a dynamo (typically between 5-15% in city traffic), making it ideally suited for riders who cover a lot of miles, although that is eclipsed by the reduction in wear and tear on your brake pads and disks: your physical brake continues to be available – and is a legal requirement in the UK – however it need not even be engaged when the lever is pulled gently and early enough to manage your deceleration/cornering speed.
For an emergency stop, simply pull your brake lever as normal and your disk brakes will operate as expected.
Grin’s Digital Regen Brake Cable connects via HiGo 4 Pin to a Superharness/equivalent, requiring the unit and magnet to be glued/driled/secured to existing hydraulic brake levers. It operates a simple on/off which is then processed by whichever circuitry you are using.
As investments in your rig go, this is probably the best one!
